We retired January 2005 from the Northern Virginia area. The first thing people ask when they come to visit us is, "How did you find this place?" In early 1990's we had been visiting friends in Romney, WV and read in their newspaper classifieds "Land for Sale" in Petersburg, WV. The next day on the drive to Petersburg we both became quiet, wondering if our children would visit. That day we bought this nearly 12 acre lot.
This was a project at work for almost 16 years, camping first in the back of our pickup truck, then sleeping in a shed, all the while wanting to share the views and peace that we had found.
Finally, in 2001, we had the first part of the house built followed by a finished basement, a barn and our "Go Ahead Inn" refurbished from a place with thin walls just for shelter to our present cottage/cabin that others now enjoy. Before becoming a B&B, and while we were working and only commuting to "Our Country Home" on weekends, we had approximately 70 visits from friends and family. Some of the 73 entries in our Guest Book since 2002 are provided below and helped us to decide to add on and become a bed and breakfast:

Having a Bed and Breakfast fulfilled a dream and the previously mentioned friends and family members have given us the experience. We hope you will come and share this Breath of Heaven with us.
